Singapore Airlines To Fly A380 To Shanghai

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will deploy the Airbus 380 superjumbo on selected flights to and from Shanghai from Oct 27. The A380 currently flies to popular destinations including Frankfurt, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne and Sydney.

This will give customers a better experience and increase the total number of weekly seats offered on the route by 12 per cent, SIA said on Wednesday morning.

SIA currently operates 35 weekly flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport using Boeing 777 aircraft during the northern summer operating season and 28 weekly flights during the northern winter operating season.

SIA and its regional arm SilkAir currently operate a total of 165 weekly flights to Hong Kong and 10 destinations in mainland China, including Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Xiamen.

Since its inaugural flight in 2007, the A380 has proven exceptionally popular with customers, with strong loads on all routes it serves. The superjumbo currently flies to various popular destinations including Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo Narita and Zurich.
