Airbus A350 XWB Ready for Next Stage of Flight Testing

Airbus has completed the first 92 flight test hours with its A350 XWB flight test aircraft, the MSN1.

MSN1 made its maiden flight in June, prior to the 2013 Paris Air Show. All of the aircraft's critical systems--including the engines, electrics, Ram Air Turbine (RAT) and landing gear--have been cleared through initial testing.

Airbus has a total of five A350 XWB development aircraft, and will equip each with different interior components and flight test instrumentation, to test all of the optional equipment associated with the aircraft. The second phase of flight tests for the A350 will begin in August, following routine aircraft maintenance and upgrades.

Qatar Airways is the launch customer of the A350, which is scheduled to enter into service in the second half of 2014.
