Jessica Sanchez is a petite girl who's about to have a very big 2013. The Season 11 "American Idol" runner-up just released her first single, an uptempo duet with R&B superstar Ne-Yo titled "Tonight," and she performed it on "Idol's" top nine results show to major fanfare. Her debut album, Me, You & The Music, is finally set for an April 30 release, and this May, the 17-year-old babydiva will join the cast of "Glee" for this season's final three episodes, portraying a powerhouse singer at a rival school--clearly a role she was born to play.
The morning after Jessica's big performance of "Tonight" with Ne-Yo on "Idol," she swung by Yahoo! Music's HQ to sing a new, rare acoustic version of the song. And even without all the booty-popping dancing and electronic instrumentation (and even without Ne-Yo himself), her star power and the song's surefire-hit catchiness came shining through.
Jessica also sat down with Yahoo!'s Reality Rocks to talk about her album, her recent dancing and acting lessons, the youthful urban-pop sound of her new music, her superstardom in the Philippines, her role on "Glee," and much more. She already seems to have grown up a lot since her "Idol" run last year, and it looks like she has a great future ahead of her and a good head on her tiny shoulders.
