Where & When It Begins
I finally decided to update this page somehow. Anyway, I have been digging back from time to time where all my music journey began. Honestly, the UK music scene actually plays a big part of me. I myself didn't really realize this part till I was actually listening to the music from the UK. Well, when I was a kid in the 90s, I literally grew up with the Spice Girls and 911. I remember that time, there was only MTV on Astro back in Malaysia. I literally go crazy whenever I listen to Wannabe.
As time flies, I actually didn't really realize how much of the impact it has on me. Honestly before today, I always think that UK music never really has a mark in me. Even now as a songwriter here in the States, I never really know where my roots comes from. All I can remember that I was classically train on piano and electone courses since I was 3 years old. And this gives me the urge to really go in deeper on how UK music scene actually change myself in music. For now, let's see how it goes.
But since I am listening to this right now, I wanted to share out this amazing song. Chess has a fantastic score written by Abba's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus with lyrics by Tim Rice. Seen as one of the ultimate musical duets, it was originally recorded in 1984 by theatre icons Barbara Dickson and Elaine Paige. But of course, I wasn't listening to the original version. The beautiful thing about this was a cover made by Melanie C and Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls. It was done last year.
When you grew up with music by the Spice Girls, it is really hard not to like their work until this very day.
