With a total of six Airbus A380-800 aircraft ordered, equipped with the most modern technology, products and services, THAI has entered 2013 on an optimistic note. The A380 is already operating daily between Bangkok and Hong Kong, Bangkok and Frankfurt and will soon include Bangkok to Tokyo and Bangkok to Paris. After a period of extensive renovations, THAIs entire fleet of aircraft offers a more comfortable and entertaining flying experience to more destinations than ever before.
With 1.71 million passengers carried in October 2012 alone and a cabin factor average of 73.5%, THAI is flying high. The Middle East has contributed to the success of the airline with increases in passenger traffic from THAI’s Dubai base to destinations such as Chiang Mai with a 54% increase between October 2012 and February 2013 over the same period last year and an incredible 60% increase in passenger numbers to Phuket from the Middle East during the same period. As a relatively new destination from the Middle East, THAI offers daily connections to Koh Samui from Dubai – already recording an increase of 194% over the first months of 2013.
Other developments in THAI include THAI Smile. Established in July 2012 THAI Smile is a regional airline operating short-haul flights with narrow body aircraft providing services to passengers with connecting flights on THAI. Five new international flight routes were introduced effective 31 March 2013 with THAI Smile – Bangkok-Mandalay, Bangkok-Ahmadabad, Phuket-New Delhi, Phuket-Mumbai and Phuket-Kuala Lumpur; a total of 19 new flights per week. THAI Smile is for passengers who enjoy trendy, friendly and worthy service based on THAI standards at affordable prices.
Thai also continues to win awards, the latest being the “Punctuality Awards, Long Haul Airline” in the Brussels Airport Aviation Awards 2013, for the year 2012; the punctuality criterion is to have the best on-time performance for arrivals and departures at Brussels Airport, that is, an actual arrival or departure time within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
THAI can be found at ATM on Stand AS 7150 together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
