Giant New Airport Concourse Specially-Built For Airbus A380 Super-Jumbos Opens In Dubai

A giant new concourse specially-build for Airbus A380 super-jumbos is now fully open in Dubai after weeks of phased-in operations.

The world's biggest passenger aircraft is a double-decker that seats 525 people and is so large some airports have to be adjusted to accommodate it.

The 20-gate concourse, which hosted its inaugural flight on January 2, is part of a wider $7.8 billion expansion plan for Dubai's international airport, which seeks to become the world's busiest by 2015.

The new concourse, formally unveiled on Sunday, is also a boost for the European Airbus consortium in its rivalry with Boeing Co, whose 787 has been grounded since mid-January as investigators examine possible problems in its lithium ion batteries.

The Dubai-based carrier Emirates currently flies 31 A380s and has 59 on order.

During the first month of operations following its inaugural flight on January 2, Concourse A has handled 461,972 pieces of luggage carried on over 2,450 flights serving 589,234 passengers.

Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airlines, said: 'The full opening of Concourse A is a significant milestone and achievement in supporting and enabling the continued growth of Emirates, and our focus and commitment to being a leader in offering our customers innovative products and services that provides them with an unsurpassed travel experience.

'With a current fleet of 31 A380s and a further 59 on order, Emirates is the largest operator of this aircraft in the world, and it is only fitting that we have a world class facility that meets this need and represents our leadership in this regard.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: 'Much like the opening of Terminal 3 in 2008, the phase in of Concourse A has resulted in the seamless introduction of world-class infrastructure that responds to the rapid growth of Emirates and caters to the needs of its discerning and truly global customer base.

Concourse A is a vital element of our 7.8 billion investment in the continued expansion of Dubai International which will see it become the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic by the end of 2015.'

Concourse A is part of the Terminal 3 complex built for the use of Emirates, from where its passengers can travel to its network of 21 A380 destinations.

With 11 floors and a total built-up area of 528,000 sqm, Concourse A is connected to Concourse B and Terminal 3 via an underground train. Unlike any other airport facility, the First Class and Business Class lounges have dedicated floors that offer direct and convenient access to aircraft boarding gates

The lounges, which extend the entire length of the concourse, are the largest in the world and offer customers fine dining with showcase kitchens, conference rooms, business centres and a Timeless Spa.

Concourse A also offers an enhanced duty free shopping and dining experience featuring a wide variety of globally recognised food and beverage brands.

Concourse A boosts capacity at Dubai International from 60 million to 75 million passengers per year. It is a vital part of Dubai Airports' 7.8 billion Strategic Plan 2020 which will increase airport capacity to 90 million by 2018.

Malaysia Airlines Offers Higher Checked Baggage Allowances

Malaysia Airlines announce that effective 14 February 2013, its passengers will enjoy an additional 10 kilograms free checked baggage allowance and reduced excess baggage charges for travel in all classes. These apply to all travel from this date irrespective of tickets issued earlier reflecting the original lower free allowance.

The national carrier of Malaysia is introducing these benefits on all its flights involving the weight system concept for checked baggage, except for travel to and from Los Angeles where the charges are based on the piece system.

Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Executive Officer Encik Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, “The revised checked baggage policy improves our product proposition in the ever-changing competitive landscape of the commercial aviation industry. This is also in line with our Business Plan strategy of ‘Winning Back Customers’.”

“As travellers are becoming more discerning in selecting their air travel options, we have simplified the excess baggage rates to introduce a consistent policy for our passengers that delivers significant savings while they enjoy our premium service hospitality,” he added.

Under the new baggage guidelines all adult and child passengers will enjoy 30, 40, and 50 kilograms free baggage allowance respectively for travel on economy, business and first class.

Charges for checked baggage weights in excess of the new free allowance will be calculated depending on zone of travel with a fixed rate applied for every 5 kilograms of excess baggage weight.

The excess baggage rate for each block of 5 kilograms excess weight will be RM30, RM60 and RM90 respectively depending on zone of travel.

In Malaysia, the rate of RM30 applies for each sector in the zone within Malaysia and the ASEAN countries of Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

RM60 applies for sectors in the zone beyond Malaysia and ASEAN, covering destinations in India, China, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Australia.

The intercontinental rate of RM90 will be charged on all travel between Malaysia and the cities of Jeddah, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and Istanbul.

For return travel from the international cities, the RM value of the applicable zone charge will be converted into the local currency of payment during check-in.

The above guidelines apply only for travel on Malaysia Airlines and does not cover code-share flights as well as travel involving other airlines.

Earlier, effective May last year, the national carrier also streamlined cabin baggage rules for all its domestic and international flights. Guests travelling economy class were allowed one piece cabin baggage up to a maximum of 7kilograms instead of 5kilograms. First and Business Class travellers were allowed two pieces of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 7kilograms each.

And also yesterday MSN094 (Malaysia Airlines #5 A380) was delivered to Malaysia Airlines, making it the 98th overall delivered, and 1st A380 to be delivered in 2013. Though MSN094 is still at Toulouse Delivery Centre and hasn’t started to fly to Kuala-Lumpur yet.

Chapter 1 - Come To Me

Since the day it first snow, I sat there and look at the snow falling on my window pane. My fire at the fire place was soft and warm enough for one. It was just months after the break up. I came back to Boston, knowing there ain't anything left for me back in Malaysia and Singapore. Feeling a little sicky but it doesn't really matters. The quietness was beautiful. No phones, no internet, no TV.

When January draws nearer, the more I wasn't looking forward to. This will be my first birthday celebrating alone. Well, maybe that was my intention to be alone. But no matter how much I wanna lie, no one wanna be alone during their birthday. At that point, life isn't worth living for me. Everything seems wrong no matter how much I wanted to see it the other way. The only comfort for me at that point, was just using drugs to numb everything that matters.

Months after months, I wasn't even writing. I somehow was just in a very dark place. No one could possibly talk me out from my own labyrinth. Or maybe I just didn't want to be talk out of it. A part of me, I was enjoying the numbness that was within. For once, it really felt good not to feel. I had a long history of using drugs. Was hooked when I was in my college days. And after so many years, I am back on it. I didn't even bother this time on how much I was using. I was totally outta control.

I didn't tell anyone yet at this moment that I was still using. It didn't really hit me either. But this 5 months being in Boston, I barely got out of the house. When know it, it was already early summer. It was time to head home to Malaysia. It didn't felt right till this moment. It was almost a year now since he left. But it still didn't felt right. The hallow was deep on my chest. Many things were going through my mind. A lot of "What If" but I knew deep down it doesn't matter either way.

But I didn't had a choice to not to go back. My meds supplies are low. And getting it in the states would cost me a fortune. It has to go through a doctor's prescription to begin with. And I ain't got any insurance here. Well, tickets are ready before even I came back. Maybe it was time to stop running away. Texted my best friend Rene and Gerald, telling them I would be back in a week time.

I was a mess but it didn't bother me at all. I let myself kept bleeding in grief and guilt. I wanted to forgive myself, but it doesn't feels right. The pictures of Jamie was flashing every minute I was awake. I miss him. But he had long gone from my life. The part of accepting that he will never come back sinks in. And the memory kept coming back to me. I was in my own realm yet again.

Well, the only intention to relived the past is to accept that a part of me wanted a closure with my own. And part of me wanted to outline what was I like when I was an addict. I am never proud of what I did, but it is a part of me. Deep down, I wanted all these urges to go away. Till this very day, I am still having all these urges. I screw up my life twice since the first drag I smoke when I was 16. And a friend told me maybe reliving and put down in words will help. At this point, I am willing to try what it takes to make those urges go away. I am still able to say no now, but I am starting to have doubts. Well, it is still worth a try. Chapter Two - Home Bound. Qantas Coming Back To KLIA

The move is a consequence of its global alliance with Dubai-based Emirates, which means its services to Asia will no longer be tied to onward links to Europe.

New direct destinations from Australia being considered include Beijing, Seoul, Mumbai, Delhi and Tokyo-Haneda, while increasing capacity and frequency of flights to Hong Kong and Singapore.

Qantas International chief executive Simon Hickey said Asia was a key pillar of the company's future.

"Our first step has been to restructure existing services to Asia now that they are no longer tied to onward links to Europe," he said.

"The number of dedicated seats on Qantas services to Hong Kong and Singapore is increasing significantly, because capacity previously set aside for customers going to Europe via these hubs can be freed up.

"The joint Qantas-Emirates network into Asia gives our customers a fresh set of options, including double daily services to Singapore from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane," he added.

"The maturing Jetstar network gives travellers another set of alternatives once they land in Asia."

As part of the plan, from March 31 arrival times into Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore will be brought forward by up to three hours to increase the number of onward connections while KUALA LUMPUR will added as a destination.

The other new destinations are not likely until 2016.

Other changes will see Qantas cease its Adelaide-Singapore and

Perth-Hong Kong services but boost Brisbane-Hong Kong flights from four per week to seven, and add four additional weekly Sydney-Singapore services.

The airline has also brought forward the end date for its loss-making Frankfurt flights by six months to 15 April.

Australia's competition watchdog last month gave Qantas and Emirates permission to launch their global alliance in which the airlines will coordinate ticket prices and flight schedules.

Qantas will shift its hub for European flights to Dubai from Singapore while ending its partnership with British Airways on the so-called kangaroo route to London.

The tie-up is seen as vital to the sustainability of Qantas, which last year posted its first annual deficit since privatisation in 1995 due to tough regional competition and high fuel costs for its international arm.

Turkish Airlines Fleet Expansion

Airbus and Turkish Airlines are under negotiation of an order of 150 aircraft, including some A350 and A380 as announced the French Minister of the Foreign Trade during a visit to Turkey in January/2013.

Turkish Airlines, the world's fastest-growing airline, is considering an order for A320neo or 737MAX and they have ordered last December/2012 15 long-haul 777-300ER from Boeing to a $ 4.7 billion at catalog prices.

Nicole Bricq, Minister of foreign trade met Temel Kotil, the general manager of Turkish Airlines. "Discussions are ongoing, there will be no announcement or signing during the visit of the Minister," said a Ministry spokesman.

The order under discussion would be composed of 125 aircraft of the A320 family, 15 long-haul A350s and six to ten A380.

Turkish Airlines CEO Temel Kotil said: “We increased our recent order of 15 A330-300s by 5 more aircraft to 20.” Together with the recent order of 20 Boeing 777-300ERs, the 20 A330-300s “gives us 40 additional widebodies, which is a good number,” he said.

Well, I have to say it really took me years to understand what was the only reason she told us that. Sometimes, I really feel that I was putting myself out there. In the simplest way, my blogging. And the only part that touches me was I get to inspire people. Mostly cancer patient and a lot of them somehow understood what I am going through vice versa.

But from time to time, the more I express myself, I realize that a part of me was kinda gone. The part that I was able to find my safe heaven wasn't there. Well, there ain't anything to find blame in or any reason for me to be mad about it. Well, I need to find back that part of me where I can have that perfect place to hide. Afterall, things are kinda made it into this situation. I don't think anything will get any worst. Like it or not, I will be spending my Chinese New Year celebration here. I was being denied from discharged and I guess I sneak out too often and I am on house arrest. Well, looking on the bright side I don't have to see all the relatives and smiling when I don't feel like to.

Sometimes, I really couldn't help it but feeling being in this condition, how things really are. It is always lonely and really no one understood the pressure of keep it going. I know I have great friends around me and kept pushing me forward. But that tiredness inside. No one sees it. Sometimes every "You will feel better" or "It will be over soon" kinda just doesn't work. American Airlines Hooks Up With Malaysia Airlines.

Fort Worth-based American also has expanded its Oneworld global alliance with the addition of Malaysia Airlines, which strengthens the alliance's connectivity between key business cities in Asia and other areas of the world. 

Serving more than 60 destinations in 30 countries, Malaysia Airlines will expand the alliance's network in Southeast Asia, officials said.

American and Malaysia Airlines have signed an agreement to codeshare on each other's flights and, if given government approvals, will permit the two airlines to work together to improve flight schedules and connection times.

The new deal permits American's customers to earn and redeem American Airlines AAdvantage miles when traveling on Malaysia Airlines, American's Stache said.

"Our extensive codeshare relationship with Malaysia Airlines will provide our customers with easy, premium access when traveling to and from Southeast Asia and beyond," Stache said.

The agreement with Malaysia Airlines will include placing American's code on nonstop flights between Malaysia's hub in Kuala Lumpur and its Southeast Asia destinations, as well as flights to the carrier's European gateways such as Paris and London.

Passengers can begin booking travel on codeshare flights as early as Feb. 24 for travel beginning March 1, officials said.

British Airways Returns To KLIA After A Decade?

After several failed attempts, Australia's Qantas wants to work with Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to expand its network within Asia.

At the other end of the aviation spectrum half-way around the world, however, British Airways (BA) may cut ties with Qantas over its code share. If this materialises, it will augur well for MAS to work towards filling this void on the London-Asia-Australia connection.

MAS group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, when contacted by StarBiz, said, “We are open to the idea of working with Qantas on Asian routes.

“We need to engage it first to fully understand how the proposed partnership would benefit both airlines, given the current partnerships in place. The benefits must also include our customers.”

To recap, MAS and Qantas had failed to strike a deal in the past. The last negotiation in March 2011 saw MAS walking away from the negotiating table because the deal was not in its favour.

But the situation is somewhat different now, as MAS is a member of oneworld and both Qantas and BA are founding members. It was Qantas that had sponsored MAS' entry into oneworld. Rising costs and intense competition have rendered it necessary for airlines to work together in the current climate. As alliance members, they will have to carry each other's traffic. MAS was selected as a member because of its wide linkages into South-East Asia.

The likelihood of a deal being struck now is higher, more so since Qantas, which plies the Australia-Singapore route at the moment, is not likely to partner Singapore Airlines (SIA) for the Asian connectivity since SIA is already allied with Qantas' rival, Virgin Australia.

Qantas announced a new strategy on Monday to work with Asian carriers, including MAS, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, China Eastern and Cathay Pacific, for its Asian connectivity. It is considering new destinations such as Beijing, Seoul, Mumbai, Delhi and Tokyo-Haneda as well.

Those in the know claim that Qantas may ride on MAS' network to service the South-East Asia region and even for flights into India.

As Qantas reworks its routing and timing, the British carrier may also be looking at alternatives for connectivity into Asia and Australia since Qantas now has a new partner in Emirates.

Both Qantas and BA have a 17-year code-share agreement that ends on March 31. The Australian Financial Review has reported that BA has told Qantas that it would not reinstate the code-share agreement between the two airlines for connecting flights from Asia to London when the agreement ends.

But a BA spokesperson said that “we are currently transitioning our relationship with Qantas and it's nonsense to suggest that we are cancelling all our codeshares.”

All the talks surrounding a possible end to the BA-Qantas code share arose after Qantas entered a deal with Emirates months ago. Under the alliance with Emirates, which is still awaiting final approval from the Australian competition regulator, Qantas flights to London will transit via Dubai instead of Singapore beginning March 31.

That leaves BA at a loss, although for Qantas, the Emirates deal appears to be a significant step forward in fixing its international business.

Hence, it is no surprise, say experts, that BA may look at new arrangements for access into Asia and Australia, with the KL International Airport (KLIA) once again appearing on its radar screens. BA departed from KLIA more than a decade ago, albeit retaining its London-Singapore route.

“In my discussions with BA, it has indicated keenness to come back to Kuala Lumpur, but is still evaluating the viability of its operations. It will also depend on the availability of aircraft and suitable slots,” Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd managing director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad said in replies to queries from StarBiz.

The CAPA Centre for Aviation, in a report, said code share talks between BA and MAS have not begun, but the two carriers expect to discuss cooperating on the Kuala Lumpur-London route as well as to regional destinations in Asia and points beyond Heathrow.

It added that MAS also had more regional international capacity in South-East Asia than any other full-service carrier except SIA, which is only about 15% larger. MAS has about 10% more seat capacity in the regional international market than Thai Airways and is significantly larger than Garuda and Vietnam Airlines, both of which are more focused on their domestic markets.

BA's return would be a big boost to KLIA, and for MAS, a code share with BA for the London-Asia-Australia sector would help its load factor rise, which hopefully translates into better yields and earnings, said an expert. This is notwithstanding the fact that they have access to each other's network by virtue of being oneworld members.

MAS' passenger load factor for December, at 81.4% was the highest ever in its recorded history since April 2002. For full-year 2012, the figure stood at 74.7%.

The A350 XWB Makes Its First Flight…Virtually

Located at the company’s Toulouse, France headquarters, “Aircraft Zero” brings together the iron bird (a “skeleton” of the aircraft that serves as a full-scale test bench for the electric and hydraulic systems, as well as flight controls) with a simulator representing the A350 XWB’s flight deck.

The ground-based test campaign will last several months and is to simulate the various scenarios that could be encountered during the first flight, while also ensuring the maturity of aircraft systems.

Wake Up People

Well, I would wanna express that this is all in my own opinion. I am not taking any sides but this is just a general VIEW OF MINE on what MOST Malaysians are. Sometimes, talking to a certain individual made me realize how blessed I am actually. I believe many of you out there will exactly will feel how I felt about this matter as well. But a matter of fact, we have to accept that there ain't a "perfect country" or a "perfect government". I repeat myself, I am not taking sides. We can't deny corruption is one of the factors. I am not denying that point as well. Even Singapore we dubbed as the cleanest administration has the same corruption going on. It is just how things are being cover up. But what I am trying to say here is the mentality of people that see things on the surface.

In so many ways, I do feel that being Malaysian has our own "benefits". Well, but one of the most beautiful part of Malaysian nowadays is constant criticizing. Well, it is a free country and everybody has the right to voice out what they feel. But it is somehow a little shameful to see how narrow minded they are.

Criticizing for the sake of criticizing is never a better options. I think if anyone had that kind of energy, simply criticizing is unfortunately a huge waste on someone's resources. There's plenty of ways to channel that energy.

If money does grow on tree, or we tax the hell out of the people like the EU, or we privatize and let the public pay full price without subsides like Singapore that we could have the best transport, healthcare and education on earth. How much again is the tax that Malaysian are paying??? Well, I know I am paying 44% tax in the States. How is that for a start for us Malaysian?

Too bad our public are reluctant on either, instead pursued a rather childish act of wanting the best but won't like to pay for it. But hey, if u have an innovative idea on how to do this. We are all ears.

Yeah. Just like how people like to compare the komuter and erl services. In short, they would love an efficient service like the erl with komuter ticket price.

There's even people comparing RM3 public hospital with RM300 a nite private one, there even some that compared NUS with UM.

Guess what. UM charge RM500 per semester.(From SSC Forum) Even if its highly subsidized, they just ain't that much money to pay top brain to work for us. Not at the rate at what others are paying. UM even pay lower than our local private uni.

Ahh choices choices, subsidizing UM more would result in the public health and public road becomes even more shittier, right?

The faster Malaysian learn that you get what you pay for and so good to be true deal, are most likely untrue the better. How much people exactly fall victims to get rich scheme simply because of it. Heck even lots get conned into buying fake samsung phone due to it. But well, like I say, choices. It is just another typical ideology of the "Selfless" Malaysian Culture. 

Talking about National Public Debt. According to the CIA Factbook on World Public Debt. We are not even in the top 50. I am not saying we should be or whatever. But get the facts right before saying something. It is just pure embarrassment to be honest. Well, I am not saying getting PSY to perform in Malaysia with RM3 million (Less than US$1 million)  is a good idea. But well, I do not support that kinda usage of money but I would love to see facts of it. I work in the music industry, and well, it's not something artists make that kinda choices. Stop writing that how pity we are and our national public debt is 50 BS billion and with the wrong facts. It's just pure sad! Sad that we have so many no brainers around to just embracing criticism.

With the current state of mind with our people, don't even think of fighting for equality. We don't have patriotism for a start. It is all about self interest. And I am repeating myself again, I AM NOT TAKING SIDES. But facts are facts. There aren't a perfect government. Even in Singapore, as nationalist of another country, it is good to us cause they absorb in talent worldwide. But does the Singaporean feel the same? I highly doubt so. Their benefits are even worst than expats around. But hey look at them, they are famous with complaints. But they know what is in for a country. That is what I call Patriotism. 

Well, it is all in my own views. To me, if anyone wanted a change, be the change themselves. Stop asking what the country can do for you, start asking what can you do for the country. But I do highly doubt this works now or even the near future. Well, at least I am bless that a part of my life is outta this. Well, I do hope the people of my country sees this. Don't be that shameless person who just criticize just for the sake of criticizing. Act as one. If we need a new government, make that change for our country but not for ourselves. If we need a better living status, make that change ourselves. I have so many friends that made it and I respect them for their achievements. They make that change, they took the first step to make a better living. Not by criticizing. But by hard work. Be blessed with what we have now. Be contempt with what we are. There are more issues that just this kinda crap. 

The politicians doesn't care whether its right or wrong, They are POLITICIANS! They just keep criticize the action by the government. As for USA, although Republican is not standing on the "correct" side, they have their points to defend what they want to defend. Don't be a localized condamner. Support our own country. AGAIN, I am not taking sides. Make that change happen if we want that change. Well I think I repeat more than enough. This is all just my own views.

Turkish Airlines Orders Five Additional A330

Turkish Airlines has signed a firm order for two additional A330-300 passenger aircraft and three options as part of the carrier’s continued growth plans. The additional order for the A330 Family is taking their total firm order for the type to 38. Turkish Airlines placed their first order with Airbus in 1984, and today operate 104 Airbus in total.

The new aircraft will be deployed on medium and long haul routes from the Turkish Airlines hub in Istanbul.

“As one of the fastest growing airlines, our strategy of growth needs to be fully supported by efficient, reliable and profitable aircraft” said Dr Temel Kotil, CEO of Turkish Airlines. “This new order for A330s reinforces our commitment to a family of aircraft which already helps us to achieve our ambitious expansion plans, in a profitable and sustainable manner.”

“We are very proud to win a repeat order from Turkish Airlines as it shows without doubt a strong endorsement for the A330 unique combination of unbeatable economics, versatility and fuel efficiency,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “In response to the continuing strong demand, we’re making the A330 better and better, with new higher weight variants to offer more payload-range capability while keeping reliability at top level.”

Airbus aircraft share a unique cockpit and operational commonality, allowing airlines to use the same pool of pilots, cabin crews and maintenance engineers, bringing operational flexibility and resulting in significant cost savings.

Smiling At Life

The only thing in life that is really worth fighting for is life itself. Irony? Yes but in ways, it is how the way it is. Been searching for the strength to stand alone and the power of uncertainty and letting go. It is always easier said than done without a doubt. But somehow, being in the dark long enough and the time would usually goes away and it's time to hold to ourselves and start to live again.

One thing I learn about is how wonderful ways that things can be. One of my anchor in life is love. The love of family, the love of love ones, and the love of friends. But one of the greatest love that comes, it will always be in a form that we will never expected. Sometimes, life will just turn and surprise us in a way that we never thought it would be. But I always believe in one thing. To get, we need to give. And when we give, give it with a sincere heart. And it will be answered sincerely.

Well, maybe some may disagree, but I have to say, to be where I am now, it isn't an easy way. So much heartache, so much pain, so much agony. But the faith that I've been holding on, I will say without a doubt, it is all worth going through.

Time will go slowly when things aren't easy. But the feel of it, somehow, it will just pass us by. I guess I found my way. And somehow being here now gives me a sense of peace. The search of our soul is a never ending  journey. The road is always unclear and unknown. But tonight, I am genuinely happy. Just happy that I am here. Listening to some beautiful tracks by Jennifer Hudson and Mariah, when it hits me, I could really smile and just be myself. Just to be me and no one else. Holding up to every inches of love given to me.

Michael Jackson once said :

That is how I feel right now.  

More Orders For Airbus A350 XWB Aircraft

Air Lease Corporation (ALC), the Los Angeles based aircraft leasing company has signed a contract for 25 A350 XWB Family aircraft, consisting of 20 A350-900 and five A350-1000, the largest member of the A350 XWB Family. ALC also has options for five additional A350-1000s. With this new order, ALC becomes the 35th A350 XWB customer and the order takes the A350 XWB backlog past 600 (to 617).

Concurrently, ALC has signed a purchase order for 14 A321neo aircraft following an earlier agreement announced at the 2012 Farnborough International Air Show for 36 A320neo Family aircraft plus 14 options. With this latest confirmation from ALC, the lessor’s cumulative orders for the A320neo Family have reached 50, of which up to 34 will be A321neo models. ALC will announce engine selections at a later date.

“The A350 XWB Family is becoming the industry benchmark for efficiency in the long haul segment, and the A320neo Family is ideal for airlines operating short to medium haul missions. These aircraft will help airlines grow their businesses while simultaneously reducing their operating costs and emissions,” said Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Air Lease Corporation’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “ALC offers its customers the most modern, efficient aircraft on the market, and both the A350 XWB and the NEO fit right in that category.”

“ALC’s continued confidence in Airbus products and especially our fuel efficient A350 XWB and A320neo Families is a great indicator of the long-term success of these aircraft,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “When you offer products which cut fuel consumption by a double digit number, and combine that with low maintenance costs and the latest in cabin innovations, it’s a pretty compelling proposal whether you are in the low cost, full service or charter segment.”

The A350 XWB (Xtra Wide-Body) is an all-new mid-size long range product line comprising three versions and seating between 270 and 350 passengers in typical three-class layouts. The new family will bring a step change in efficiency compared with existing aircraft in this size category, using 25 per cent less fuel and providing an equivalent reduction in CO2 emissions. Scheduled for entry-into-service in 2014, with ALC’s newest order included, the A350 XWB has already won 617 firm orders from 35 customers worldwide.

The A320neo will enter into service in late 2015, followed by the A321neo in 2016. The A320neo Family incorporates latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together will deliver up to 15 percent in fuel savings which is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel - the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars, saving 3,600 tons of CO2 per aircraft per year.

With more than 9,000 aircraft ordered and over 5,400 aircraft delivered to over 380 customers and operators worldwide, the A320 Family is the world's best-selling single-aisle aircraft family.

Scoop On SMASH Season 2

As NBC’s Broadway-musical drama “Smash” prepares to launch its second season at 9 p.m. Tuesday, it’s no secret the network thinks the show needs some resets to get back onto the star track.

In a short, lighthearted scene toward the end of Tuesday’s episode, Debra Messing’s Julia Houston is lovingly advised to dial back on the bulky scarves that emerged as her first-season fashion signature.

The scarves became a lightning rod for Internet discussion last year, with a vocal faction arguing they did not serve Julia well.

So yes, the scarves might make Julia a metaphor for the show itself. New season, new attitude.

NBC’s broader concern about “Smash” became evident in March, when with two months to go in the first season, the network announced it was getting a new showrunner.

That’s like a team firing the manager or the coach, only more so. The departing showrunner, Theresa Rebeck, had created the series. Messing’s character was modeled after Rebeck, who likes to wear scarves.

Rebeck stepped down at a time when the show, which is expensive to produce, had lost several million viewers, dropping from a strong audience to an okay audience. There were also grumblings from critics and network creative people that “Smash” wasn’t focused as sharply as it needed to be.

Those complaints were a little vague, but one recurring component was that “Smash” is a show about Broadway and Broadway music, so that’s what it needed to focus on selling.

It’s also got soap, but the thinking was that if you focus on the show and the people who are making it, they’ll generate plenty of suds on their own.

For all the first-season problems, NBC always insisted it believed in “Smash,” seeing it as a kind of show that could help give the network a cool, exciting image while also drawing a substantial audience.

There’s a sense among many people who have seen early episodes of season two that this faith could be rewarded, because the renovations are giving the show some fresh sparkle.

It still won’t be easy. For one thing, “Smash” doesn’t have NBC’s most popular nonsports show, “The Voice,” feeding viewers into it this year.

Some of its core viewers — Broadway fans, who were among the most assiduous micro-analysts of the first season — are also nervous about replacing Rebeck, a real-life Broadway songwriter, with Josh Safran, who is best known lately as the showrunner for the CW’s just-concluded teen drama “Gossip Girl.”

Safran’s most important first job was to reassure fans that “Smash” had not just cashed in all its Broadway cred to chase TV trends.

When NBC presented a “Smash” panel to television critics in Pasadena last month, Safran repeated what he has said before, which is, “I don't think it’s changed that much.”

To get more specific about such an assertion, though, requires a mixture of honesty and diplomacy that can be hard to achieve in an unscripted monologue.

So Safran’s next sentence, in full, went like this:

“I think that, you know, the stuff from last year that you loved is still there, and the stuff from last year that maybe some people thought was, you know, a little went off on tangents we looked at and we sort of tried to find a way to circle back together, but it still is the same ‘Smash,’ just sort of maybe bigger, more music, sort of a little bit maybe younger in some regards, some of our new cast members, but I hope the people who watch it still see the same show that they loved.”

It’s okay to breathe again now.

Executive producer Neil Meron said sort of the same thing, except he added that Safran was the right guy to change what needed changing and leave the rest alone.

“I read everything,” Meron said of the reaction to season one. “I read the love. I read the hate. I read the bad. And I hope I was objective enough to say, ‘Well, that makes sense.’

“When Josh came in for the second season and addressed all of those issues, it seemed that it was really the right fit. First-season shows need time to find themselves, to really lock into what they are. Especially a show like ‘Smash’ that has so many moving parts, it’s still in that process of finding itself.”

One place it will be looking, says executive producer Craig Zadan, is toward a suggestion that another executive producer, a fellow named Steven Spielberg, made back when “Smash” was just a proposal.

“He said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if each year we did another musical?’,” recalls Zadan.

In the first season, the show revolved around “Bombshell,” a musical about Marilyn Monroe.

This year it will add “Hit List,” a very different kind of production, without the big, splashy classic-Broadway numbers of “Bombshell.”

“Hit List” is smaller, edgier, a show whose creator almost sees it as the anti-Broadway.

“Smash” fans have been reassured by the casting for the creators of “Hit List”: Andy Mientus and Jeremy Jordan, actors who themselves are deeply entrenched on Broadway.

They aren’t nearly as big on bulky scarves as Julia. They also have a different attitude toward success, though in the end they also want it.

So Meron says season two of “Smash” will be like the greatest hits of season one, and he thinks that will deliver exactly the hit that NBC is hoping for.

“It’s a fantastic show,” Meron says, “and when it works, I dare anybody to say what could be better entertainment.”

Qantas' New Asian Strategy Includes Malaysia

Qantas on Monday outlined its new four-phase strategy for the Asian market with new destinations being considered including Beijing, Seoul, Mumbai, Delhi and Tokyo-Haneda.

Qantas also plans to provide more frequent flights to Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as, reschedule the departure time of those flights and increase capacity on those routes.

The airline said it hoped to expand its network within Asia by working with local partners such as Malaysia Airlines, Japan Airlines, China Eastern, Jet Airways and Cathay Pacific.

Qantas said the improvements to its Asian services would begin on March 31 and be rolled out in four phases.

Qantas International chief executive Simon Hickey said the changes meant Qantas' services to Asia were no longer tied to onward links to Europe.

"The number of dedicated seats on Qantas services to Hong Kong and Singapore is increasing significantly because capacity previously set aside for customers going to Europe via these hubs can be freed up.

"The joint Qantas-Emirates network into Asia gives our customers a fresh set of options, including double daily services to Singapore from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane," Hickey said in a statement.

From March 31, Qantas will increase capacity on flights to Hong Kong and Singapore by between 10 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively.

More flights would also be available on the Qantas-Emirates network.

Qantas will also schedule earlier arrival times into Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore, with flights brought forward by up to three hours to increase the number of onward connections.

Customers will also be able to fly to Kuala Lumpur on the combined Qantas-Emirates network.

However, Qantas will reduce services between Perth and Singapore to one a day.

It will also cancel its Adelaide-Singapore and Perth-Hong Kong services.

However, flights between Brisbane and Hong Kong will rise to seven a week from four, and daily services between Sydney and Singapore will start in June.

Qantas has also brought forward the end date for its loss-making Frankfurt services by six months to April 15.

Whenever things starts to turn around, I always wanted to stand tall but eventually I crumble. I wish I was stronger in many many ways. Listening to Pink's Nobody Knows made me feel that it is ok to feel this way. Honestly, it is a little overwhelming for me to handle everything. My emotions are everywhere over the place. Sometimes, people tells me to share how it felt being in the bed I am in and what I should be feeling. Not to say that I didn't really try. I did what I could but like what the song says. Nobody Knows...

I lie here now after therapy, thinking to myself, what is the point of having a say sometimes. I know everyone meant well. I know everyone wishes for the best. And I am trying to be as positive as I could be. But these few days, I really felt even more left out. Whenever the question " How are you today?" or "How are you feeling?" arise, I try to not answering them. From time to time, I wanted to say how I really am but the thing is many hear me, but no one listens. Well, I guess life always throw us with all these challenges to overcome.

Well in a friend once told me, no matter how things are, it will be just a phrase. Suck it up and let it embrace us with the pain and soon enough, it will be over. Well, emotionally, I felt way better than last night. I guess whenever it is quiet and i'm alone, I always let my fear overpower me. The fear of losing, the fear of fighting, the fear of losing my inner voice, the fear of the uncertain of tomorrow.Well, like it or not, fear is something we have to live with no matter we wanna admit it or not.

But fear is a well enough tool to make or break us. It's not gonna be easy to cope with this bu he least I try. For starters, I am tired of running away from it. I think it is a damn good motivation to start with. The fear that consume in every night is really killing me and I am tired of being that way. How am I gonna start? I got no idea at all. But it is something I really wanna make changes on in my life at the moment. I misses all my friends, I misses the life I use to have, I misses everything when I was still healthy and running. Malaysia Airlines To Fly Airbus A380 To Hong Kong

As per 31 JAN 2013 GDS inventory display, Malaysia Airlines from 01 MAY 2013 introduces Airbus A380 service on Kuala Lumpur – Hong Kong route. The A380 operates MH072/073 service. The airline previously planned to introduce 3rd daily service from 15 JUN 2013 (MH432/433), this remains unchanged for the moment followed by the operational aircraft changes.

Presently Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Korean Air, Air France, China Southern Airlines, and Thai International Airways are operating their A380 to Hong Kong. With Malaysia Airlines to introduce their flagship to Hong Kong, the only other operator of the Airbus A380 not serving this route is Lufthansa. So far, there are only 9 operators of the A380 flagship in the world. Even the new and only operator that will be in service this year British Airways will be deploying their A380 from London Heathrow Airport to Hong Kong this winter.

A Story In A Song

Today was relatively a tough day for me by far in 2013. But I guess I could somehow still manage to handle myself. Well, I'm not really in the mood to rant but I am relatively interested to share some thoughts in music. Being a part of a production in the music industry really taught me a lot of new things which I didn't quite understood when I was younger. I still remember the first song I have written when I was still doing my Yamaha Electone Course when I was 11. It was crap! Seriously bad. But at that time, I kinda remembered clearly that I was asking myself back and forth, how does this tune was repeating in my mind.

When I left to Boston to study at 16. I realize a few things about most of the students who are doing their courses in Berklee. One thing I realize about music students that they rarely share what they are up to. I was one of the youngest student in class and me being Asian didn't really helped any of it. But seeing them made me realize one thing. Passion. Their passion in music was remarkable. But I still couldn't be a stand out. I gotta work harder than others but nothing seems to pay off. So I consult one of my professors. Mr Jon Aldrich. 

Mr Aldrich is my life line. Without him, I wouldn't be who I am today. Part of me not to compromise my writing is because of him. He changes my whole world of how music is being written. I remember one thing he told me. 

One of the most difficult things to give life to music is a grasp of an idea of the dire simplicity of most of the music in a song. A song will be a song. But how to convey the story behind that melody. Always ask yourself, "Why did I write that?"

Partly that was why that isn't every artist could colour a song with their own story. But I think I am very blessed to have work with wonderful artists around. It gives me a sense of being home in many ways. Witout Mr Aldrich's guidance, I wouldn't have learn so much about how to give a soul to just a simple melody. A song will always just be a song. But when humanity is being put into the picture, everything can channel from the scores, to the artist, and from the artist to the listeners. And one of the most important thing he taught me was dare to be vulnerable. It's just all that intensity will show in the music itself.

I'm not saying that it is easy. Till today, I am still striving for all of my work to get that conveyed. Still learning day by day. Well, I guess I gotta focus on my health at the moment before I could start on work this coming march. Anyway, wanted to thank all those that has been supportive on my soundcloud. Thanks for all the kind words and I really do welcome more comments. To create more good music, I have to learn how things are too at the listeners end. Anyway, appreciate those beautiful words from you guys on all of my works.

This Is For You

Well, the title speaks all. This post is for you. Since Bran left, it really made me realize life is really too short not to cherish everyone that we love and care for. I have been talking to Shinigami for these few days. I realize how much it has been for him. It has been nearly 8 months plus since I last met him. I remembered we were having coffee at Sunway Medical Center. Usual me, sneaking out and spending time with my love ones.  Somehow it really hit me when he told me this.

I am almost never happy in the past year. Just like skipping by time.

It really stings within. I sometimes felt how bad of me as a friend wasn't being there for those I love and care. Shinigami is one person I really cherish in my life. We known each other for years now but grew fonder just the last few years. He was one of a kind. A real friend I could count on. No one can ever like take his place within me. He is one person who knows how I feel and really never judge me. More like a long lost brother that I never had. I was suppose to see Shinigami today. But yet, my health condition somehow changed everything. It was really a sucky day. But the great thing I know now is I will be seeing him tomorrow here in Singapore. A time that I am really looking forward to. Time to fill in each other with everything that is going on.

And also this is for Mr G. I MISSED HIS CALL!!!! I was doing my last radiotherapy for this week. And when I got back to the room, I saw his call. I called back but I guess he already board the plane. Mr G is my bestie. He is leaving to Sweden for good tonight. I suck at goodbyes. But I really will miss him very much. He was a person I spend the night at wee hours at 7Eleven with talking about "things" I will miss you a lot G! But I know I will see you soon. Will see you when my work is done in London.

Mr D, you are the only person who is with me through and through. You always know what is right to tell me and all. I don't have to use words to describe how things are or how grateful I have you in my life. I really won't know what will I be without you. Love you for that! Not just that.. Everything.. And you will always be in my prayers. Praying for Shanghai to happen for you.

Mikey my baby boy. A little boy I use to know. A person who is always emo and all. But Mikey isn't that baby boy anymore. He really grew up very much. He learn how to love. And he is the first Sagittarius I know that prove everything wrong to me. I got no grudges on Sagis. Just had a real bad experience with them. But Mikey really changed my world. He shows how much he could do and what is being a lover is. I am really proud of you Mikey! You will always be our baby boy. Really miss you. I haven't seen you since May. I got ya back no matter what you are going through.

And last but not least, my Bitch Ms Rainer! No words I could use to express how much harder it will be without you around. I know, Facebook and everything. I suck at goodbyes and you know it. You know what I am feeling so I'm gonna shut up! ( I can imagine what your face gonna be like right now. and I hate you! )

Well, life has given me so much. What more I could ask for right? My baby bro JJ is worried sick of me actually. I know he is. And I am trying to put on a good show for him. But I am thankful to have him walked into my life. A lot of things in my life changes around him. Looking at the best side of life. He inspire in so many ways that I couldn't image anyone would.

And also to one special blogger. You will know who you are. Your smiles is like the colorful guards expressing what a song could be. And all I wanted for you is you being happy in life. Everyone deserve the best in life. (You know what I am saying)

Anyhow, this first song on my playlist now is really meaningful to me. And this song is for all that I have mention above. And also those I failed to mention. Please don' mind me. This is for you.

This Is Life

Well, I have to first say that life is really crazy to even start with. Within 24 hours, there are so much that was going on. I was receive my work schedule for this year, new places to be and new people to work with. Sounded good to me. Later in the afternoon, I won the trivia competition by Malaysia Airlines. Non bad for one day. Met up with A. And he did kinda mention where are we heading to now since we have been on and off dating. Had to really put myself together and see where my future will be with him.

I was talking to a young friend of mine. A blogger and a band geek too. And kinda realize after a while, what was I actually thinking? To be honest, A was supportive when I was taking my celibacy vow for a year. I mean we are all adults. And things were pretty laid on the table and clear. So kinda went to bed earlier as I was due for my radiotherapy in the morning.

At the wee hours, a phone call from the states. Brandon is gone. Was looking for ways to digest what I was feeling. Wrote a post for him. Still didn't very much helps me. Still numb. Untill Soul232 posted on his facebook quoting what I wrote.

It's a comforting but very sad sentiment to come across - 

'God gains an angel, I lose a friend'.

Immediately my tears just flows out. God it felt so good. Everything was released. And there I was by my bed just crying myself to sleep. I can't deny how much I will miss Bran. Life isn't gonna be the same when I am back in the states. Those late nights and all. And also part of Bran has always been a motivator to me.

Well, this is life. What happen within 24 hours. And a lot of new decision made and when the time is right, I will definitely share with you guys. I was even talking to a typical cancerian friend of mine. I am so gonna name him "Diplo-my-ass" Well I realize something, at times I am really lost of words when I use words to explain myself. And what really puts me on the line was how music relates to that. Well, lets see if it works. I'm finishing one piece and will be posting here on my playlist the next few days. Well.. if that could explain how I feel, then it would be what it meant to be.

And also, Really appreciate Mr D for always being there for me. Even at times of grief. You always understood what I feel and going through. Well, it is beyond words with my gratitude that I could show you with. Luv you loads!
