Air France-KLM Malaysia has launched a new premium economy class for air travellers as part of its strategy to increase their presence among Malaysians, its Country Manager Estee Ng said today.
She said even though the airline started its service on April 23, many air travellers were still unfamiliar with Air France.
Speaking to reporters at the launch, she said this new premium economy class cabin, positioned between the economy and business class, has 40 per cent more room compared to the economy class and has a capacity of 24 seats, equipped with spacious ergonomic seats and enhanced services to assure comfort, peace and tranquillity.
In conjunction with the launch, Air France-KLM Malaysia offers a special premium economy fare of RM5,777 (inclusive of all taxes and surcharges) compared to the usual fare of RM7,091 from July 15 until July 31.
"The special fare is to introduce the unique experience of Air France's premium economy class, which is offered at an affordable price and comes with enhanced services with its spacious seat," she added.
The special fare is valid for travel until the end of this year.
Currently, this class is available on flights for the Kuala Lumpur-Paris and Paris-Kuala Lumpur sectors, which uses the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
With Kuala Lumpur, Air France now serves 15 destinations in eight Asian countries; India, China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia.
For the 2013 summer season, over 200 weekly flights will connect Europe to Asia via the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol airports.
The Kuala Lumpur-Paris route is in addition to the 205 weekly flights operated between Paris, Amsterdam and Asia by Air France and the KLM, the Royal Dutch Airline, and complements the flight offering between Malaysia and Europe, with a daily flight operated by KLM from Kuala Lumpur.
In combination with the KLM flights, the Air France KLM Group offers 17 weekly flights from Malaysia to Europe; seven of them with KLM code-sharing, partnering Malaysia Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam.
