They've got the year's best-selling album and single, respectively, and now Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will go head-to-head at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, as they lead the field of nominees with six nods apiece.
Bruno Mars is close behind with four VMA nominations, while Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds To Mars each picked up three. Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris and Fun. are also in the running for multiple Moonmen heading up to the big show, set for Sunday, August 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
No need to wait any longer, 2013 VMA voting is now open!
Timberlake's striking "Mirrors" clip earned nominations for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing, while his "Suit & Tie" team-up with Jay-Z is in the running for Best Collaboration and Best Direction. If he wins these prizes this year, JT will add them to his already impressive haul of Moonmen, having won seven at previous VMAs.
The 2013 VMA Nominations Are Here!
Meanwhile, Macklemore & Lewis are hoping to take home their first awards. Their massive hit "Thrift Shop" is up for Video of the Year, and their follow-up single, "Can't Hold Us" landed nods for Best Hip Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing. The equality anthem "Same Love" earned the dynamic duo their sixth nomination, for Best Video with a Social Message.
Mars continues to roll, as his "Locked Out of Heaven" clip is up for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Male Video. The smooth summer grooves of "Treasure" were also enough to garner him a nod for Best Choreography.
On August 25, the VMAs will touch down in Brooklyn for the first time, and in honor of the occasion, they've allowed one of the borough's most influential artists, KAWS, to give the iconic Moonman award a one-time-only redesign.
In another first, the full list of VMA nominees will be revealed throughout the day on Monday on MTV's Vine and Instagram accounts ... beginning with the show's biggest honor, "Video of the Year," which not only features Timberlake, Mack & Lewis and Mars, but Robin Thicke's summertime sensation "Blurred Lines" and Taylor Swift's all-grown-up epic "I Knew You Were Trouble."

ReplyDeleteHahaha.. I guess so.. But I have a strong feeling Justin is gonna dominate the awards this 2013/14 season. 20/20 Experience is really one solid strong album from him.
